Pascal

Symbol: Pa

The SI unit of pressure, equal to one newton per square metre.

The pascal is defined as:

1 Pa=1 N1 m21\text{ Pa} = \frac{1\text{ N}}{1\text{ m}^2}

One pascal is a very small pressure. Common multiples: 1 kPa = 1000 Pa; 1 MPa = 10610^6 Pa.

Standard atmospheric pressure is approximately 101 325 Pa (100\approx 100 kPa or 1 atm).

Related unit: 1 bar = 100 000 Pa.
