IGCSE Physics Exam Preparation Intensive

How our exam preparation intensive works: targeted revision, past paper practice and exam technique coaching in the final weeks before the Cambridge exam.

Written by IGCSEPhysics Content Team · Physics subject adviser: K. S. Tan, 15+ years teaching IGCSE Physics · Checked against the Cambridge IGCSE Physics (0625) 2026 to 2028 syllabus

This page describes our exam preparation intensive for students approaching the Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 exam.

What the intensive covers

Phase 1: Targeted topic revision (weeks 1 to 3)

Using the student’s mock results and practice scores, the tutor identifies the 5 to 8 topics where the student is most likely to gain marks. These are the topics where the student has some understanding but loses marks due to gaps in knowledge or technique.

Each session focuses on one topic:

  • Quick concept review (10 minutes).
  • Worked exam questions with the tutor (20 minutes).
  • Independent practice under timed conditions (20 minutes).
  • Review of mistakes and mark scheme analysis (10 minutes).

Phase 2: Past paper practice (weeks 4 to 6)

The student completes full past papers under exam conditions (timed, no notes, no calculator help). The tutor marks them using the official mark scheme and identifies patterns:

  • Which question types are consistently strong?
  • Where are marks being lost: content gaps, technique errors, or time pressure?
  • Are the same mistakes being repeated?

Phase 3: Exam technique polish (weeks 7 to 8)

The final sessions focus on:

  • Time management: allocating minutes per mark.
  • Command word technique: what each command word requires.
  • Checking routine: what to check in the last 10 minutes.
  • Confidence building: reviewing what the student knows and how to access it under pressure.

What makes the intensive effective

Focus on marks, not content

The intensive is not about re-learning the entire syllabus. It is about maximising the marks the student can earn with their current knowledge, and strategically closing the gaps that cost the most marks.

Real exam conditions

Practising under timed conditions is essential. Many students can answer questions correctly when given unlimited time but struggle under exam pressure. The intensive trains them to perform under real conditions.

Mark scheme literacy

Understanding how mark schemes work gives students a significant advantage. They learn what examiners are looking for, which phrases earn marks and which do not, and how to structure answers for maximum marks.

Getting started

Contact us via WhatsApp with your child’s exam date, their most recent mock or practice test scores, and the topics they feel least confident about. We will design a personalised intensive plan and match them with a tutor who specialises in exam preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should my child start the intensive?
The intensive is designed for the final 6 to 8 weeks before the exam. Starting earlier than 8 weeks is fine if the student needs more time on content gaps. Starting less than 4 weeks before the exam limits what can be achieved but is still worthwhile for exam technique.
Is this different from regular tuition?
Yes. Regular tuition focuses on building understanding topic by topic. The intensive focuses on exam performance: past paper practice under timed conditions, mark scheme analysis, question-type strategy, and targeted revision of the highest-value topics.
How many sessions per week?
The intensive typically involves 2 to 3 sessions per week, each focused on a different exam skill. Between sessions, the student completes timed past papers independently.
