A structured revision plan for the final school term before the Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 exam, covering prioritisation, past papers and exam readiness.

Written by IGCSEPhysics Content Team · Physics subject adviser: K. S. Tan, 15+ years teaching IGCSE Physics · Checked against the Cambridge IGCSE Physics (0625) 2026 to 2028 syllabus

The final term of Year 11 is the last stretch before the IGCSE Physics exam. This plan assumes you have covered the full syllabus and are now in revision mode.

Weeks 1 to 2: Syllabus audit

Go through every syllabus statement. Mark each one:

  • Green: confident, can answer questions on this without notes.
  • Amber: understand the concept but make errors under exam conditions.
  • Red: do not understand or cannot recall the key facts.

Count your reds and ambers. These are your revision priorities.

Weeks 3 to 4: Targeted topic revision

Work through your red topics first. For each one:

  1. Re-read the concept page or textbook section.
  2. Write 5 key points from memory.
  3. Attempt 2 to 3 past paper questions on that topic.
  4. Check against the mark scheme and note errors.

Move to amber topics once all reds have been addressed.

Weeks 5 to 6: Full paper practice

Sit 2 full papers per week under timed conditions:

  • 1 x Paper 2 (Multiple Choice, 45 minutes)
  • 1 x Paper 4 (Theory, 75 minutes)

Mark each paper against the mark scheme. Record your score and your errors. Identify the 3 topics where you lost the most marks, and target those in your daily revision.

Weeks 7 to 8: Refinement

By now, you should have completed at least 4 full Paper 4 papers and 4 full Paper 2 papers. Your scores should show an upward trend.

Focus on:

  • Paper 6 practice (2 full papers this fortnight).
  • Equation recall (daily flashcard review).
  • Error patterns (review your error log and target recurring mistakes).

Final week: Light review

  • Re-read your error logs.
  • Test yourself on all equations.
  • Re-read the syllabus once more. Circle any statement you are still unsure about and give it 15 minutes of targeted revision.
  • Check your exam timetable, centre location and equipment.
  • Rest. Sleep. Arrive at the exam centre with time to spare.

Daily session structure during revision

  • Morning (45 min): topic revision or past paper section.
  • Afternoon (30 min): past paper marking and error analysis.
  • Evening (15 min): equation flashcards and definition review.

Total: about 90 minutes per day. This is sustainable over 8 weeks without burnout.
