The East Coast has few international schools and almost no local 0625 specialists, so Kuantan families have long gone without. We close that gap with online 1-to-1 lessons at RM80 per hour, taught by handpicked Cambridge Physics specialists. Each class is 1.5 hours (RM120 per lesson), and the first hour is a free taught trial. The aim is an A or A* on 0625.
Kuantan’s IGCSE community looks different from the Klang Valley’s. There is no cluster of international schools in town, so families take one of three routes. Some homeschool and enter 0625 as private candidates. Some send children to board (at Highlands International Boarding School in Genting Highlands, Epsom College in Malaysia near Nilai, or Uplands in Penang) and need holiday-time teaching to keep momentum. Others follow national school by day and build an IGCSE qualification privately alongside it. We teach all three groups.
Can a private candidate in Kuantan really prepare without a school?
Yes, with structure. The 0625 syllabus is public and the exams are sat through the British Council or approved private centres. What a school normally provides (sequencing, pacing, marked practice, practical familiarity) a weekly 1-to-1 lesson replaces deliberately. The tutor sets the topic order, assigns homework between classes, marks it against real Cambridge mark-scheme language, and prepares the student for Paper 6, the alternative-to-practical paper that replaces lab coursework for private candidates.
Founder Rig has taught IGCSE for over 8 years and matches every student personally. Kuantan students draw from the same nationwide tutor pool as KL families. Distance from the Klang Valley stops mattering the moment lessons go online.
Why not drive to a tuition centre in town?
Because Kuantan’s centres, capable as they are for SPM, do not teach Cambridge 0625. The syllabus boundaries differ, the mark schemes differ, and Core versus Extended entry decides whether grades above C are even possible. A general science class cannot manage any of that. The nearest genuine IGCSE tuition ecosystems sit in KL, 250 kilometres down the East Coast Expressway. Online is not the second-best option here; it is the only serious one.
Lessons run on a shared whiteboard with strict exam method: equation, substitution, rearrangement, answer with unit, the pattern that earns M1 and A1 marks. Every board is saved, so by the May/June or October/November session the student holds a complete revision file of their own worked examples.
A reasonable worry for East Coast parents: “is our internet enough?” Almost always yes. A whiteboard lesson uses far less bandwidth than video streaming, and a phone hotspot covers the rare outage.
We teach anywhere in Pahang
