Symbol: Hz

The SI unit of frequency, equal to one cycle per second.

One hertz (1 Hz) means one complete oscillation or wave cycle per second.

Common multiples: 1 kHz = 1000 Hz; 1 MHz = 10610^6 Hz; 1 GHz = 10910^9 Hz.

The hertz is used for all types of periodic motion, including sound waves, electromagnetic waves, and the vibrations of objects.
