Part-Time Freelance IGCSE Physics Tutor Jobs (Online)

Turn a few spare evenings into well-paid, one-to-one physics teaching, without giving up your day job.

From RM80/hr, subject to experience and availability · Online · Part-time freelance. As few as one or two lessons a week, on evenings or weekends.

What is a part-time freelance IGCSE Physics tutor role?

It is a small, steady, freelance commitment. Every tutor on our bench works part time on a freelance basis; there are no full-time or salaried roles. You offer a few fixed weekly slots, usually on weekday evenings or weekends. We match those slots with Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 students who need them. You teach each student one to one online, in 1.5-hour lessons, and you keep your main job or your studies.

Nothing about the role is casual, though. Students and parents plan their week around their lesson. When you take a student, you are committing to their slot for the term.

Who usually takes this role?

Three kinds of people tend to fit it well.

School teachers who already teach science or physics and want extra income from the subject they know best, without the travel of home tuition. Engineers and science graduates who use physics daily and enjoy explaining it. And strong university students in physics-heavy degrees, who remember the IGCSE exam clearly and have the patience to teach it.

What they share is not a job title. It is a clear head for physics and the discipline to turn up on time, every week.

How few hours can I offer?

You can start with one or two lessons a week. Some tutors stay at that level for years. Others grow to several students once they see the work fits their life. The important number is not how many hours you offer. It is how reliably you keep them.

When you apply, tell us honestly which slots you can hold through a full school term. A Tuesday 8pm slot you will always keep is worth more to a student than five slots that might move.

Why is online tutoring easier to fit around a day job?

Because there is no travel. A part-time tutor who drives to a student’s home loses an hour or more per lesson in traffic. Online, you finish dinner, open your laptop and teach. When the lesson ends, you are already home.

Online lessons also make cancellations simpler. If you are ill, nobody has to cancel a drive across town. You agree a new slot with the family and teach from home as soon as you are well.

What will I actually teach?

You teach the full Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 syllabus, matched to where each student is: motion, forces and energy; thermal physics; waves; electricity and magnetism; nuclear physics; and space physics. Most lessons mix content with exam technique, because that is where marks are won and lost.

Common lesson goals include rearranging equations correctly before substituting, keeping units consistent, reading graphs accurately, writing complete answers to describe and explain questions, and handling the Alternative to Practical paper. You do not need to invent a curriculum. You work from the student’s school position, marked work and upcoming tests.

What does a part-time tutor earn?

Pay starts from RM80/hr, subject to experience and availability. That is a clear hourly figure, agreed before you take your first student, so you can work out what a few weekly slots are worth before you commit. Tell us your expected rate when you apply and we will talk about it openly.

How does the first lesson with a new student work?

Every new student begins with a one-hour taught trial lesson with you. It is a real lesson, not a sales chat. You find out where the student is, teach something that matters to them, and show the family what learning with you looks like. If the fit is right, regular 1.5-hour lessons follow.

How do I balance this with my own exams or school duties?

Plan ahead and tell us early. If you are a student, mark your exam weeks when you apply. If you are a school teacher, note your report-writing and exam-marking periods. We would rather match you with fewer students you can keep than more students you will have to let down.

What does the vetting look like?

Our founder personally vets every tutor, including part-time ones. There is no lower bar for fewer hours. We look for clarity, accuracy and patience: can you explain an idea simply, spot an error quickly, and teach a student to write answers the way Cambridge marks them?

What makes a part-time tutor stand out?

Reliability first, then clarity. Parents notice when a tutor arrives on time, every week, with the student’s last mistake already in mind. Students notice when an explanation finally makes sense. Short, sharp feedback after each lesson helps too: one line on what improved, one line on what to practise. None of that needs more hours. It needs care inside the hours you already offer.
